Finding Purpose, Direction and Motivation

Lost In Space

What Topics do you want to hear?

I started this blog because I want to create a platform to be creative, present ideas to people that may be beneficial, review products and books I have read that have helped me and just start getting stuff out there. For the last three weeks I have gone about my days working on my businesses and every time I sit down to write I feel LOST IN SPACE! I need your help!

Up until now I have been paralyzed by imperfection and fear of failure or rejection. But I can’t just sit here and stare at a page trying to get ideas and experiences out in a way that are understandable and beneficial to people.

So, I am going to make it a point to post at least one post per day to keep me in the flow of putting information out there.

I could use some feedback about what types of things people need help with, want to hear about or have questions about.

Things that I can write about:

  • Military: I have 12 years of military experience and can answer questions about military service, enlisted or officer career paths, Explosive Ordnance Disposal, Infantry, Ordnance, map reading, survival, how to layer to survive cold weather, how to deal with people, how to handle, the culture of alcohol and how it pertains to current military issues, and a ton of other stuff.
  • Parenting: I have two children of my own and three stepchildren. Their ages range from 8-21 years old, and my wife and I have dealt with almost every issue under the sun concerning kids. Parenting is tough, co-parenting is crazy, and step-parenting while co-parenting can be an apocalyptic event.
  • Addiction: This is a sensitive topic but a topic that is close to my heart. I spent 12 years of my life being addicted to alcohol and abusing medication whenever I had the chance. The area of addiction is complex and can be confusing at times. For me, I had to lose everything and hit rock bottom before I woke up and started allowing myself to change. It has been a tough journey but I am sober now and have taken my second chance as an opportunity to help others who are struggling.
  • Starting a Business: Over the past three years I have started two separate businesses. They have been a massive eye opener for me. From my hot sauce company to my window and gutter cleaning company, I have learned a lot and am learning more and more every day! Starting a business is hard but keeping the business growing is much harder. Would it be helpful for me to give some examples of how I have struggled and found ways to succeed?
  • Self-Development: Yikes, this is a loaded topic. Self development or self-improvement comes in a number of different flavors and everyone’s path is different. There is no miracle cure or magic pill for self-development and improvement. It takes continuous, hard work, executing small things consistently over a long period of time and a good support system (community) to help you on your down days.
  • Spirituality: Growing up in a strict Christian family with a ton of rules and not a whole lot of freedom gave me some strengths and weaknesses. Having grown up in the church, I ran from God for a long time and tried to do everything myself. I tried to prove myself to people and to God by doing things right or appearing to do things right. I will go into more depth on this topic in later posts but it all boils down to the fact that after trying to prove God didnt care about me. After trying to believe that God is an angry character that just wants to hurt me. I finally reached a point where I recognized that, though there are many angry “gods” out there, the true God (the one who made this ball we spin around on) is actually the most loving and caring father figure. This is another controversial topic, but it is one that every person should consider. After all, we only have one life…on earth.

There are many other topics that I can write about and answer questions on. For now, I am going to publish this short post to help me keep track of topic ideas. At the same time, it provides you with the ability to have a say in what I talk about or write about.

If you read this, thank you so much for your time. Please leave me a comment or send me a question.
